Following training in ophthalmology at West China University of Medical Sciences in Chengdu, China, Dr. Fan undertook post-doctorial training and was a faculty instructor in Ophthalmology at University of Louisville, USA. She is now a professor and a consultant ophthalmic surgeon in West China Hospital at Sichuan University. Dr. Fan’s clinical works focus on refractive and complicated cataract surgical management, pediatric cataract surgery as well as femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery. In addition, Dr. Fan’s research interests include retinal ischemic diseases, retinal neovascularization and stem cell therapy in ophthalmology. She has made four grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has authored about 40 peer-reviewed publications.
