Dr. Matthew Wade is an Assistant Professor in Cataract Refractive and Corneal Surgery at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California, Irvine. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from The George Washington University.  During medical school training, he also completed a year-long fellowship in clinical research at the National Institute of Health.  Following an internship in internal medicine at the University of Utah, Dr. Wade completed a fellowship in external disease and corneal and refractive surgery at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at UCI. Following the completion of his fellowship training, he was recruited to UCI as a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor.  Dr. Wade is actively participating in research relating to cataract surgery, corneal transplants dry eye disease, and collagen crosslinking. Dr. Wade teaches corneal, cataract and refractive surgery to residents and fellows.
